Luisa is learning Spanish quickly!! And it is very fun to watch her learn, and to experience it with her! Today the grandma of our house came to inform us about a water contamination issue in the city. Yolanda explained the situation to me, with Luisa present. Then, she requested that I explain the situation in English to Cassandra and Isabel (new German volunteers) who were in the same room. Before I even turned around to translate, Luisa had already begun....and translated the whole situation just as Yolanda had described it!
Meanwhile, Magdalena continues to build on the good language foundation she came with from two years at Bethany. How about a SHOUT OUT to Spanish teacher Craig Mast for insisting on speaking Spanish in Spanish class?!! Magdalena has met other volunteers here who also had two years of high school Spanish, but aren't able to communicate much at all.....makes her realize what a good teacher she had :)
